Description
With a strategically designed Google Ads campaign and continuous optimization, Hanseranking achieved a significant increase in sales and efficiency for MOTION SPORTS, without additional costs. The collaboration was described by the client as professional and goal-oriented, with additional expansion of social media consulting.
Solution
A new Performance Max campaign was set up as a central tool that makes optimum use of all Google placements - in particular the Shopping Network, YouTube and Display. The product data feed was continuously optimized to highlight fitness customers relevant characteristics such as weight and resilience. The bidding strategy started with "maximize conversions" to promote entry-level products such as dumbbells and yoga mats. The strategy later changed to "maximize conversion value" to promote high-priced equipment such as treadmills and cross trainers. Regional and time-based targeting as well as targeted A/B tests and budget stability rounded off the strategy.
Results
Through consistent optimization, sales increased by more than 200% within a year. At the same time, the ROAS rose from 1800% to 3200% per month, while the budget remained constant. This increase in efficiency was also reflected in the monthly reports, which transparently presented all relevant KPIs to the customer in detail. The budget was increased in a targeted manner, particularly during seasonal peak periods such as Black Friday and Christmas, in order to leverage additional sales potential.

We hired Hanseranking GmbH to manage our Google Ads campaigns, but unfortunately we’re very dissatisfied with the service provided. From early on during the collaboration, we encountered significant issues. After the campaign launch, our revenue did not change exponentially despite the increased ad budget. In addition, the campaign setup did not, in our view, reflect the agreements that had been made. What was especially critical was the conversion tracking, which never worked correctly throughout the entire engagement. As a result, we were unable to reliably measure the campaign performance. We also noticed that most of the shortcomings were neither identified nor communicated by the agency itself—we had to raise them as the customer. We largely missed proactive feedback or proposed solutions from the agency. In addition, we did not receive the agreed reporting on a regular basis. The first report was only provided after multiple follow-ups, and it was then not reviewed with us together. Overall, we found the communication to be insufficiently proactive, with feedback typically only coming after we asked. Agreed meetings were also rescheduled multiple times. Moreover, the points of contact were changed repeatedly, so we had to essentially start over again and again. Because of these issues, we terminated the contract for cause already during the ongoing collaboration, as we felt the trust had been fundamentally damaged. However, an early termination of the contract was not accepted. What’s particularly disappointing is that the faulty conversion tracking continued even after the contract ended and was only corrected by another agency that we engaged ourselves. For six months of collaboration, we paid roughly €5,000 in agency fees—on top of the costs for Google Ads. Based on the results and what we consider to be incompletely delivered or inadequate services, we feel the value for money was insufficient. We engaged the agency to reliably outsource this area and to free up our time. Instead, we had to continuously deal with errors, follow-up questions, and monitoring the work ourselves—so in the end we had more time and cost than before the collaboration began. Overall, our experience was not satisfactory. For that reason, we unfortunately cannot recommend working with this agency.
