My worst professional experience to date. I worked for several months as a temporary worker… sorry, as an “intern.” I can’t give my name here, but I can say that during those months I was deeply unhappy. I was paid 250 € NET per month for a full-time job (and quite a bit more than full-time). I started at 9:00 a.m., and the policy was basically that if the projects weren’t finished, you didn’t leave. In my case, I usually left around 8:00–9:00 p.m., often when the office was practically empty and only a few colleagues remained. The atmosphere I experienced didn’t help either: long faces, coworkers on leave due to anxiety, burned-out people, and a general sense of demotivation. As for “extras” in the office, there’s little to mention beyond a coffee maker. The space struck me as old, shabby, and with very little natural light—something that made spending so many hours there even more depressing. I had never felt so exploited at work as I did during that time. Luckily, I later got to experience other professional environments and realized that working at an agency doesn’t have to mean living like that. To this day, I still remember it as the worst work experience of my life—an experience I would absolutely not recommend to anyone.
