Description

For the family business Pflanzen-Janssen GmbH, which specializes in rolled turf, the investment in the online store has paid off. Up to 500 pallets of turf now leave the direct marketer's yard every day. "Our old online store and the new one are worlds apart," explains owner Ingmar Janssen. "Corona showed us that our way of working was outdated and inefficient. All remaining resources had to be used for the increased day-to-day business, leaving no time for our website and strategic planning." To drive digitalization forward again, the medium-sized company brought conversionmedia on board. "I wanted to have a professional digital agency at my side that would look at our product and optimize it in the right places," explains the owner.

The ordering process has not only been simplified to the maximum, but now appears as if it has been cast from a single mold with the web design of the entire store. A clear and uniform design language guides the visitor step by step through the purchasing process. Color highlighting, targeted animations and pulse effects guide the potential buyer's gaze. Input aids and automatic corrections minimize possible bounces.
At all times, the user retains an overview of their shopping cart. Unnecessary backtracking is consistently avoided. The complex price calculation is not visible to the customer. They simply select the quantity and zip code and the price and possible delivery dates for their turf are displayed.

"Visitors now have a much better shopping experience," says owner Ingmar Janssen happily. This can also be measured in figures. Orders via mobile devices in particular have increased significantly. In the background, the order is transferred to the central administration of the new shipping tool and all necessary documents are automatically generated and sent. A logistical masterpiece, considering that the turf is freshly cut and delivered on time by a forwarding agent throughout the DACH region within 48 hours.

The right marketing strategy attracts more visitors
In order to attract more visitors to the store, an online retailer can use various sales channels such as Google ads, Facebook, Instagram or YouTube. "We always adapt the online marketing mix individually to the company," explains the agency owner. For example, Rasenprofi initially used Google search and shopping campaigns as well as search engine-optimized content to successfully draw the attention of a ready-to-buy target group to the store. In order to get visitors excited about the product and stand out from the competition, unique selling points were identified and highlighted. Together with the creation of image videos and relevant product information, the brand image of the turf professional was further expanded and trust in the online store was strengthened.

Development of an optimal logistics chain

Independent of the web store, the previously error-prone and labor-intensive order processing was replaced by the development of a shipping tool. Working closely together, inefficient, manual and repetitive tasks were identified and converted into digital processes. In addition, individual interfaces were programmed to meet the requirements of the respective forwarding companies. The forwarding tool now offers the entrepreneur the possibility to perfectly control the allocation by forwarding company and the capacities in order to achieve optimal capacity utilization. Personnel costs have been drastically reduced since the tool was developed. This means that the majority of internal employees can be used for new projects.

Results

Conclusion: Investment in an online store and marketing pays off

The investment in digitalization has paid off for the turf professional. Three months after going live, sales were already 100 percent higher than in the previous year. "A good product, a customized online store and the right online marketing strategy - that's the recipe for success here," Krummeich is certain. "As a result of the online marketing measures, we have gained new customers and convinced them of the benefits of the store. The smooth ordering process then converts prospective customers into buyers much more quickly." Evaluations regularly provide the agency with new optimization potential. The strategy is consistently aligned with the target group and adapted to current market developments. The managing directors agree that the good cooperation has brought them closer together. Thanks to the new processes, every Rasenprofi employee knows what needs to be done and when. This saves time, which can now be invested in customers and new tasks.
