After using the app in 2023/2024 and being mostly happy with it, I’ve started tracking my meals again. For lunch, I used the scan feature, and it gave surprisingly accurate results. But then came the disappointment: for scanned meals, you can’t enter quantities (e.g., pasta with tomato sauce: 500g), and the app just estimates something. So the scan feature is basically useless for me, and it makes the app unusable.

I downloaded the app on the recommendation of a colleague. He had gotten the app for €2.99 per month for three months with the discount. For me, the only price available was €20.00 per month for three months, so that's what I signed up for. After another colleague downloaded the app, my coworker said that you have to decline the first offer so that a wheel of fortune appears. You can spin it until you get attractive discounts. My colleague did that and also got the subscription for €2.99 for three months. After I contacted support, this message appeared on the screen. It's not about whether I shell out twenty bucks a month for the app or not, but about the fact that you're simply being ripped off in good faith if you accept the first offer right away. Totally unnecessary. Now I have to cancel the whole thing.

YAZIO is a good example of how an app that was originally simple and functional is becoming increasingly unattractive due to aggressive marketing and unnecessary features. Instead of focusing on the essentials—solid and clear nutrition tracking—users are confronted with cosmetic innovations, gamification elements, and constant upsell attempts. The ubiquitous advertising is particularly negative. YAZIO appears in what feels like every other mobile game as intrusive in-game advertising, which does not exactly inspire confidence, but rather gives the impression that an oversized marketing budget is being used to conceal a questionable product. Many of the newer features seem like pure occupational therapy: unnecessary, intrusive, and without any real added value for the user. Instead of improvements in accuracy, overview, or user-friendliness, there are always new distractions, while central functions are increasingly disappearing behind a paywall. The impression is that a team that is far too large is working on an app that has long been "finished" in terms of functionality, just to justify growth, subscriptions, and investors. For the user, this mainly results in frustration. Conclusion: Anyone looking for a simple, efficient, and honest tracking app will be increasingly disappointed here. YAZIO is less of a health aid and more of a marketing machine.

The app itself is good, but what happened to the design? Unfortunately, the look (app logo and app itself) is not contemporary and appealing. At first I thought it was only chosen for Halloween...

Although I don't use this app, my credit card was charged! Do not recommend!

The app hangs too often. The app loads in a continuous loop. When you contact Yazio, nothing happens. You are advised to uninstall the app and then install it again. But that can't be the case, constantly reinstalling the app. Really lousy customer service. The company is a coward to tell the customer the facts.
