Honestly, this system doesn’t deserve a single star. In a modern IT world that should be focused on efficiency and self-hosting, Sophos delivers a bureaucratic wreck of a product. Endpoint Protection turns every machine into a “transparent” PC—on Windows clients, the agent consumes so many resources that getting real work done turns into a test of patience. On top of that, there are technical shortcomings that are completely unacceptable at this price point. The email security is basically pointless, and you routinely run into an “update lottery”: firmware updates that get stuck in the HA cluster or inconsistencies between the Web UI and the CLI are par for the course. And that Sophos is now also finally discontinuing the proven SG series (UTM 9) for June 2026—apparently to push customers into new, more expensive subscriptions—really drives the point home. There are much better alternatives: If you want a modern, intuitive interface and a fair value-for-money deal, switch to UniFi. If you need maximum control, data sovereignty, and real enterprise features without license shackles, open-source solutions like OPNsense or pfSense are a far better fit. My tip for salvaging the hardware: Don’t throw out your old devices like the SG135 or UTM 320! The hardware is built solidly and feels high-quality. Since it’s based on x86, you can flash it easily with the open-source systems mentioned above. That way you get a fast, capable firewall and get to use the genuinely good hardware without the manufacturer’s software lock-in and cloud dependency. Conclusion: Hardware great, software and licensing policy awful. Never use Sophos in its original form again!

Sophia is currently providing a very poorly understandable non-German support, the rma write contain links that go to 404 and you are left alone with a utm for a replacement

Unfortunately no minus points possible. To be honest, it's the worst program I've had on my PC for 20 years. The program is criminal. You can't even uninstall it.
