I want to share my experience so that what happened to me doesn’t happen to anyone else. I enrolled my son in the Cambridge B2 exam, just as described in the information I’m attaching via WhatsApp… in a 4-week intensive course. I should mention that my son has been taking English classes since he was 3 years old; it’s just that his school doesn’t offer intensive summer courses. He already took the B2 exam last year but didn’t pass it, so we understood that he wasn’t starting from scratch. My son started the 4-week intensive course at Language House on Monday, July 6, and on Friday, July 10, he took his first Cambridge exam, which he did not pass. Based on the results of that exam from that day, they wrote to me at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, saying that I had to pay the exam fee that very morning for an exam my son wasn’t prepared for, so I called them and said, “Of course you can’t prepare for an exam in four days,” because I enrolled him in a four-week course—20 days—and the goal is for my son to be ready by July 31, not the 10th. I already knew my son wasn’t ready when I signed him up; otherwise, I wouldn’t have. But then they offered me the option to take the B2 Language Cert., which I don’t know what it is and have never even heard of. I asked for explanations and information regarding that certification—which they said they’d send me in writing (I spoke in person with the head of studies)—and as of today, I’m still waiting. Since I saw they were steering us toward an exam we hadn’t signed up for, I wanted information in person—which they didn’t give me either. Once there, they told us that they prepare students for the B2 level, but not specifically for Cambridge—even though the information they sent us via WhatsApp to sign us up included the word “Cambridge.” And once you’ve paid, they only tell you about the exams they administer there. In short, I felt DECEIVED and UNDERINFORMED. I was simply asking for that information (LANGUAGE CERT)—they should have told me that on the day I enrolled my son, so I could decide whether, in 4 days,(THAT WAS THE TIME THEY GAVE MY SON TO DECIDE WHETHER OR NOT HE COULD TAKE THE CAMBRIDGE EXAM) he’d have time to prepare for an exam and that it was the Language Cert—which is what they test at their center and why they insist so much that you prepare for it. It was our first experience with this center, and I can assure you it will be our last, since I haven’t had any communication with them since then. if I wanted information, I had to go there myself every time to ask for explanations because they couldn’t notify me two hours before closing that I had to pay for an exam without having been given any information beforehand.
We regret that your experience was not what you expected, but we cannot agree with your interpretation of the events as described in your review. The B2 intensive course began on July 6 and ended on July 31, lasting four weeks, just as planned from the start. As part of our schedule, the first Cambridge B2 mock exam was administered on Friday, July 10. Following this test, the instructor determined that, at that time, the student was not yet ready to take the official Cambridge exam. Precisely because our goal is to guide students in the most appropriate way, we explained the situation to him and suggested the option of taking the LanguageCert B2 exam—a certification we also work with and which, like Cambridge, officially certifies the B2 level. We fully understand that, as a family, you initially preferred Cambridge, and that is why our intention at all times was to advise you on the option that, based on the student’s progress and results, we believed would best suit his profile. There is also an important point that seems to have been misunderstood in your account: the fact that the course ended on July 31 did not mean that registration for the official Cambridge exam could be completed by that date. The registration deadline for the July exam session was July 17, a date set by the exam board itself and which, obviously, is beyond Language House’s control. We would also like to clarify that at no time were you denied information, nor was contact with the team prevented. In addition to speaking personally with the Head of Studies, you had the opportunity to speak directly with the teacher, who was able to explain the student’s academic situation to you. And there is one detail we believe is particularly important: finally, 𝘀𝘂 𝗵𝗶𝗷𝗼 𝗵𝗮 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗲𝗹 𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗕𝟮 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗽𝘂é𝘀 𝗱𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗼𝘀𝗼𝘁𝗿𝗼𝘀. We are truly delighted that, after previously failing to pass the B2 exam, you were able to earn your certification after these four weeks of preparation at Language House. For us, that is precisely the goal of our work.
