The food here is outstanding - never had aubergine like it and loved dessert (sticky toffee pudding but way better). Great service, really reasonable pricing. Would love to see some wine pairing suggestions for the dishes. Table was very sticky and light cables needed a good clean but this did not detract from the great food and service.

First visit here and it didn’t disappoint! Food was excellent, the starters are a must. The flatbread, and the hummus with slow cooked lamb curry was a highlight. The service was attentive and relaxed and it was great to watch the kitchen cook over the brai. The decor, serving plates and vibe was funky which suited the relaxed but refined cooking. The South African and Asian flavours really worked, especially with the aubergine main! The steak was also delicious with a lovely crust, even cook and crispy charred cabbage. The steak could have taken a little more salt but it was pretty perfect with some chips! Thanks to The Orange Bird team, I’ll be sure to return soon.

Have been several times before and loved it. Was very disappointed this time. Menu has changed and isn’t very cohesive anymore. Humous is not served with flatbread, that’s extra. Chicken wings as a main is literally just that and the Asian flavouring didn’t pair well with any of the sides. £20 for aubergine main, although very tasty, isn’t justifiable for what you get.

We had to change the menu quickly to cope with the heat. It’s hard to cook on an open fire inside at the best of times. And with no aircon this also made the dining room more bearable. Thanks for the feedback.
