My experience with NetBid at a large industrial auction was unfortunately mostly negative. I won bids on a large number of workshop and industrial equipment items. Collecting them turned out to be far more complicated than expected. The site was extensive, and some items were difficult to locate. Most weren’t ready for pickup, and despite searching for a long time, we couldn’t find some of them at all. There was very little help from the staff on site, and some were quite uncooperative. Getting into the facility sometimes involved long waits. As a result, we had to make several extra trips. My employees and I went there around four or five times, leading to significant additional costs for labor, wages, vehicles, and fuel. The pickup process was also poorly organized in my view. Some items were missing keys, for example. The fire brigade had removed the keys from almost all the cabinets and workshop carts before pickup. We only managed to get the keys for two or three items after repeatedly asking around. There was also uncertainty about the exact location of some items and whether they could be accessed. I do want to commend NetBid’s telephone support, which was consistently friendly and professional. After the matter was resolved, I was also refunded without any hassle for the items that ultimately couldn’t be found. Even so, the considerable extra time and expense made this a very negative experience overall. NetBid handled my complaint fairly, which is commendable, but that only partly makes up for the problems with the pickup itself. Overall, two stars.
