A “3-Week Job” that Took 12 Weeks The only reason I'm giving any stars is that the workers generally did decent work, and the folks who run the company didn't seem like genuinely bad people. It's just that I’ve never in my life dealt with such an undependable company with such IMPOSSIBLY BAD COMMUNICATION. As in, the communication was so poor, it didn’t even make sense. I could literally write a book here, but I’ll spare you and myself the horror. Suffice to say, they quoted us 3 weeks to do the job, and it took 12 weeks. By the 3rd day, they literally just weren’t showing up. Why? Who knows! Nothing was ever communicated! Ever. The only thing we ever knew for sure was that any dates and times they gave us would definitely not be the actual dates and times things would happen. “10am Tuesday” would change at noon to “Between 1 and 2,” which would change at 2:30 to “Some time after 4,” which would inevitably end with them not coming, and being told the next day something like, “They couldn’t get away from another job.” And even that was only after leaving half a dozen messages asking what was happening. Full disclosure: we did ask for changes during the job, but these were mainly because the initial requests were being botched, misunderstood, and were taking so long. Even those changes should’ve maybe added a week or so, tops. And I realize that there are endless contractor stories where workers don’t show up, and it’s a nightmare. But now, if you hire the, you can’t complain that there was no warning. So if you don’t mind your job taking literally 4x longer than their estimate, go for it. Maybe create Bingo boards for all of the excuses they will give for why their pledges get broken. Here’s a sampling of some favorites: Emergency dental appointment Sick toddler Car troubles Doctor appointment Bad cell service Not able to fit us into their route Problems with the texting app Too busy working on another job Didn’t realize the day was a holiday But by far, the most common reason why their word was broken: ...None given!
