About Mecexis
Based in Manresa, Barcelona, Mecexis has been creating bespoke software since 2012. The studio develops web and mobile apps, B2B online commerce platforms, business management tools and AI solutions for established companies and startups alike. Its AI work is designed for day-to-day business use: solutions are deployed in live operations, not left at the pilot stage. Mecexis also supports and enhances its software over the long term, with the original team continuing to work on it. Clients retain ownership of all code, data and documentation. The team thrives on work that demands specialist insight, from business-critical systems and tough engineering problems to research initiatives and projects with intricate specifications. These assignments require a thorough grasp of the challenge and robust engineering that will stand up to years in production. Many involve confidential information—including medical, employment and tax records—and are hosted within the European Union. Mecexis builds primarily with Python/Django and Flutter, alongside an in-house framework for management dashboards and ERP systems. Since 2012, the company has also developed Carticious, its own Django-based e-commerce platform, independent of products such as Shopify and PrestaShop. Using Carticious, Mecexis has launched over 20 online shops and B2B portals, featuring shared product catalogues, account-specific pricing and integration with each customer’s ERP.

Quiralis: surgical management and document AI
Case Study by Mecexis
Description
Quiralis brings surgical administration, insurer authorisations and billing into one connected workflow. The challenge was to replace legacy software and manual processes while preserving the detail of everyday medical and administrative work. Mecexis developed a platform for planning medical procedures, assigning professionals and tracking each procedure through controlled states. Insurer documents can be imported in batches, with Google Cloud Document AI extracting patient details, identifiers and procedures. Administrative staff review and correct the information before linking it to the relevant activity and billing. The billing workflow includes invoices, credit notes and reconciliation of grouped insurer payments. Quiralis also supports VeriFactu. Role-based access, two-factor authentication for sensitive profiles and auditable exports help control how information is accessed and handled. Built with Django and PostgreSQL, the platform includes background processing for bulk operations and an installable web app for use across devices. A phased rollout allowed teams to validate each area alongside existing processes. The result connects work that previously depended on separate systems and repeated manual checks. AI assists with document processing; people retain control of validation and decisions.

Thank you so much, Lluís, for your review! We try to put all our experience into the points you highlight. As you know, doing a software project isn't just about writing the code, but about giving it all meaning and structure so that it really works and is a success. Joan Manel Carreras September 2026
At ACB, we developed several applications with Mecexis, and it proved to be a rewarding and enriching experience—both because of the way the analysis was guided (focused on the nature of the problem, rather than on a specific implementation of the processes we were using to address it at the time) and because of the software’s efficient performance.
Comment by Mecexis
Thank you so much, Joan Manel, for your review. The team was thrilled that you hold this perception of us. It was also a pleasure for us to work on these projects with you. Hopefully, with time, new opportunities will arise! In any case, your words encourage us to keep working and improving! :)
