Description

IRF Solutions was commissioned to completely modernize the customer portal—from UX design to front-end and back-end development, through to the go-live. The goal was to ensure a simple and modern user experience for both users and administrators.

Solution

IRF Solutions developed a completely new, responsive front-end application based on Angular, supplemented by interactive charts via Chart.js to provide a modern visualization of account balances, performance, and asset growth. The back-end was rebuilt as a standalone Java/Spring architecture, deliberately decoupled from the existing core system, with which it communicates via REST interfaces. IT security was considered from the outset: authorization protection on all backend endpoints, protection against XSS, CSRF, and SQL injection attacks, cookie and session hardening, as well as optional two-factor authentication (TOTP). The architecture also allows for the downstream integration of a reverse proxy or CAPTCHA service for particularly sensitive endpoints. Implementation took place in agile cycles, both in the UX subproject (design, UX testing, iteration) and in application development (implementation, testing, negotiation), through to go-live and the maintenance phase.

Results

With the new portal, Allianz Pensionsfonds now has a future-proof self-service platform that meets the current expectations of Generations X and Y and mobile users in terms of functionality, design, and security. The decoupled architecture also lays the groundwork for gradually integrating additional digital processes and features without affecting the core system.
