Over the past period, I worked closely with Frits on the Volta Sensor 2.0 project. Frits is the inventor of the sensor—and the person who took the idea of remote management for central-heating boilers from a “stalled ambition” to a working, scalable solution. When we from my company Berinhart teamed up with Sqippa, the development of remote management for Volta’s boilers was completely stuck. There were ideas and pilot projects, but no cohesion and no momentum. With Frits at the helm, the whole path was reworked, cleaned up, and accelerated. Since then, there have been major steps forward—technically, organizationally, and in practice at Volta. What sets Frits apart is that he looks beyond just code or hardware. He has a full view of the entire system: the sensor, firmware, data, the dashboard—and, above all, the reality of management and maintenance. He doesn’t build anything “just for a demo,” only what will keep working under pressure. That’s what makes his solutions both reliable and future-proof. In addition to his role as the sensor’s inventor, Frits also serves as lead software engineer on Sqippa development assignments that run through Berinhart. That combination created short lines of communication, faster delivery, and a substantial reduction in costs—without compromising on quality, which was immediately noticeable in the Volta project as well. Working with Frits is open, sharp, and genuinely pleasant. He says what he thinks, takes responsibility, and stays calm when things get intense. And yes, with just enough dry humor to keep the work enjoyable. In short: Frits is someone who turns complex technology into something that just works. He’s essential to the Volta project—and personally, he’s a partner I’d trust blindly to build on.

I came to Frits with a question about a technical prototype that I wasn’t yet conceptually stable or logically worked out. There were several questions at once: how it would work, the choices behind the design, and how everything could be better aligned. Frits handled it very systematically. He communicates clearly, asks sharp questions, and actively thinks along with potential solutions. What I valued most was his analytical approach: he sees the bigger picture, but doesn’t lose sight of the details. Because of that, the process felt efficient and strong in terms of content. The most valuable part for me was his ability to translate technical complexity into concrete, actionable steps. The prototype works as intended, and I also gained new insights that I can apply in the next phases as well.
