We redesigned the e-commerce website for LeetDesk to provide avid gamers with a AAA experience and the brand with a backend that is easier to manage.
Branding
We started with a branding workshop where we learned more about the LeetDesk brand. Here we defined the target group in more detail and found a way to offer this target group more value and engagement. The result was as follows: LeetDesk's target group are hobby gamers who want to improve their gameplay with the best peripherals, hardware and gadgets. These customers identify themselves as hobby gamers with normal jobs. Even if they are not "pros" themselves, they still want the pro experience. With this new understanding of LeetDesk's customer base, we developed a branding guideline and a user flow with wireframes to plan the structure of the website. The main site structure was retained. However, the new internal page content structure now has an improved customer flow and more brand-appropriate wording.
Design
Our designers used the brand guidelines and wireframe slides to develop a customized design with a professional, elegant and futuristic look. This included choosing a more engaging, modern font and creating a more cohesive design that guides customers through the new, more natural flow of the website. The signature edge of the Leetdesk gaming desk is a recurring design element throughout the site in the form of light strips and gradient borders. This deliberate design element keeps the customer's mind on the product while surfing through the pages. We also created custom videos, images and icons that give the entire website a clean and consistent look and feel.
Development
To give the website top speed and good SEO, we used Next.js as the web framework and Shopify as the e-commerce platform and integrated them via the Storefront API. Next.js and Edge Computing automatically detect the user's language, location and currency. LeetDesk also wanted a simple form of content editing. The choice fell on Prismic. Every text, image and video can be easily edited and new pages or content blocks can be added. Prismic supports multiple languages, allowing the LeetDesk team to provide and edit content in different languages. The LeetDesk team was then given an introduction to familiarize themselves with these technologies and learn how to transfer the data from the old services to the new ones. Scroll-based animations were used to present LeetDesk in a unique and engaging way. The more a customer interacts with the website by scrolling down the page, the more information and animations are displayed. In addition, through the integration of Shopify apps and other third-party modules, the new website now has countless new features, such as User reviews Server-side GTM tracking Affiliate marketing 2D & 3D configurator with save function With these integrations, an effective rating system could be created through which the customer can see the LeetDesk in action with other players and get their opinions. If a customer stops the customization process of their LeetDesk in the custom-built configurator, they can save, share and access it later via a short, easy-to-use link. We appeal to the customer's playful inclinations by integrating eastereggs in the form of interactive games on the website. Gamers who are on the scavenger hunt have to actively search for the mini-games here, WIN them and thus unlock codes.
