I've been a customer since 2012. Since that time it was very easy to renew a license for ESET NOD32 antivirus. But not anymore. My original license was purchased in Russia. And now, when I click "Manage in e-store" on the current license page at home.eset.com, it sends me to the Russian web-site with a "PRO32" antivirus. And it doesn't allow me to purchase a renewal for NOD32. I've asked a support, if I can renew my license. But they replied, that it is not possible to transfer a Russian license to Germany, and just proposed to buy a new license (not a renewal), when my current license expires. So, 3 stars, because they redirect to this PRO32 Russian website, that could be recognised by mistake as an update of NOD32, and they do not allow seamless renewal of the licence, when you move to another country.

I have been using ESET software for around 8 or 9 years now, mostly in the Multi Device Internet Security multi-user version, both privately and professionally (3-5 seats) and have never been disappointed. The software saves resources, does not slow down even weaker or older Office systems when scanning and updating and runs perfectly in the background. The individual setup of the software (usually the rather annoying pop-up messages when you plug in new devices, here the software probably suffers from Alzheimer's and does not save every setting as selected) is also done quickly, network settings are also possible as desired in the advanced settings. This is a big advantage over the free and very good W11 firewall, which is still very sluggish and sometimes slows down the system, especially when it comes to real-time file monitoring. MS still has its fingers on the pulse here with many setups or they are very cumbersome to access. This year I treated myself to the ESET Home Security Ultimate version, primarily because of VPN, which is probably only available in this edition at the moment, and here I have two more questions: 1.) is there any plan on ESET's part to offer VPN in other editions in the future? 2.) Is there already a date in sight when the identity protection will be available in the user account? Otherwise, keep up the good work, even if ESET is not one of the cheapest products on the market, you already have a reliable product that has been "supported in Germany" for years and if you break down the overall package into the individual components (e.g. VPN etc.), some of which are only available as paid upgrades from other providers, then the higher complete package price is quickly put into perspective and you have even saved a few dollars. So please don't always complain, just do the math and think about the fact that the people there in Jena also want to earn a living somewhere with their jobs.

The software certainly fulfills its purpose, but the handling is extremely complicated. It starts with the naming of the packages: It feels like every package is called something different in every place, which makes it impossible for me to keep track of everything. The website and the internal area are extremely confusing. Every time there are any updates, I spend hours trying to find my way around. A simplification is really needed here - that would be a dream!

So far I was very satisfied with ESET. I will but due to worse activation and licensing behavior, as well as over the cheeky way of telephone treatment, make a big bow around this company in the future! One should consider times from where to where the money flows! Obviously this has not been understood. I am just not quite clear why an already existing customer loyalty is so trampled with feet - but okay - everyone as he wants and can. I will also strongly advise the companies I support not to use ESET products! If you had been really interested in my problems, this review would not be here and I would not have to look for someone else. ... but I had only one license problem

I have been using ESET NOD32 for almost 20 years and I have always been very satisfied with it. This is also due to the fact that most other manufacturers of similar software have switched off the update servers for their versions for older operating systems many years ago. Because I still use them whenever possible since some of my hardware components do not work under newer operating systems due to lack of suitable driver software and also some software suitable for older operating systems is not supported by them I was very happy that updates for the 9.x versions of NOD32 were still provided. Therefore I am very disappointed and shocked and also angry that now with end of September 2022 the update servers for the 9.x versions of NOD32 were switched off. Especially older operating systems (I am not allowed to name them, otherwise the text will not be published) for which no more security updates are provided need additional protection programs. That I should now use a newer operating system without regard to whether my hardware and software is suitable for it, I find a serious imposition, because what good are the latest operating systems with the latest security features if the price is that half the computer no longer works? That is not better than if a malicious program does the same and if a newer operating system can not be installed then nothing is helped with this anyway. I bought a 1-year license for several PCs in June 2022 and I could have been informed as a registered user by e-mail that there will be no more updates for the 9.x versions of NOD32 from October on. Then I would have reconsidered the purchase, but that's probably what ESET thought...

As with operating systems such as Windows XP or Windows 7, the support period and the delivery of updates for our program versions will also end at some point. For this purpose, a notification about the end of support is provided in advance in the programs (see also here https://support-eol.eset.com/de/policy_home/product_tables.html). We also inform about the operating systems supported by the programs before the purchase. We ask for your understanding that we can provide older program versions with updates only for a limited period of time. As a user you have the possibility to use your license with a newer program version. Unfortunately, we cannot offer you an alternative if your currently used operating system is no longer supported by the manufacturer. As a security manufacturer, we also strongly advise you not to use outdated operating systems, as they no longer receive security updates and can therefore have dangerous security vulnerabilities. I have been using ESET Internet Security for 6 years, and have now added ESET Mobile Security. I find ESET reliable and runs in the background without attracting much attention. The very nice staff, I am surprised every time how friendly and competent the advice and help is.
