A particularly disappointing recruiting experience. After three interviews—one of them at their offices—the process seemed, at least, to be well underway. After the last conversation, I was emailed to ask about carrying out a technical assignment that didn’t match the position I had applied for. I answered honestly that it wasn’t in my line of work. From that moment on: no further replies, no follow-up, and no feedback from the interviews. Eight weeks later, I only received a generic email saying that no opportunities matched my profile. Rejecting an application is perfectly normal. Putting someone through three interviews, having a candidate come in, questioning them about executing a task from a different profession, then going silent for eight weeks and wrapping it up with a generic reply—that’s not. The rejection isn’t the issue. The lack of consistency, transparency, and consideration for candidates’ time is. “Curiosity will take you far,” Talan claims in its emails. Common courtesy and respect for candidates would be a good place to start, too.

I was contacted in late April as part of a recruitment process. After a first discussion with HR, I was asked to prepare a post-mortem of my most recent assignment so I could present it during an in-person interview with a senior consultant at the firm’s offices in the 16th arrondissement. The interview went well, and this was later confirmed during a phone call with HR, who then scheduled a final interview with a partner at the offices in the 4th arrondissement. Since that interview, I haven’t received any feedback, even though I followed up in early June. I’d like to clarify that I was employed throughout this process, and I set aside both professional and personal time to prepare for the interviews, create the requested presentation materials, and travel multiple times. I completely understand that a candidate may not be selected, but the total lack of feedback is disappointing. If a personalized discussion wasn’t possible, I would have appreciated at least an automatic reply by email. So I’m disappointed with this candidate experience, which doesn’t match the reputation I had of a firm of this standing.

Disappointing recruiting experience. I arrived a few minutes late for the interview due to an unexpected situation, and I should also have apologized more clearly at the time. Even though I thought our conversation went well, I felt like this incident ended up mattering more than my skills. I respect their decision, but I’m leaving the process with mixed feelings.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you had this experience following your interview. We understand that arriving late can be stressful or cause concern. That said, we’d like to reassure you that in our hiring process, we base our assessment of applications primarily on skills, experience, and how well the candidate fits the role. Our decisions are guided by objective, structured criteria to ensure a fair and impartial evaluation of every applicant. Punctuality may be one of the aspects considered, just like any other element of professional conduct, but it is not, by itself, a deciding factor in the overall assessment. We’re committed to providing every candidate with a respectful and transparent experience, and your feedback helps us keep improving. We wish you the very best of success in your next steps. Kind regards, Recruitment Team

I had a mixed experience with Talan’s recruitment process. At first, the recruiters managed to capture my interest by presenting what seemed like a promising opportunity. However, as the interviews went on, I noticed inconsistencies in what they were saying. What was initially described as a hiring process based on my profile turned into a mission-focused recruitment, with no clear explanation or justification. Another thing that bothered me was communication—especially around key details like salary and benefits. Over the phone, the recruiters told me I’d been accepted and verbally shared information about my salary, meal vouchers, and health insurance. But despite my repeated requests, they never bothered to send me a written summary of these crucial terms. This lack of formal documentation put me in an uncomfortable position, especially since they asked me to interview with their clients without any tangible proof of the conditions they’d presented to me orally. This approach reinforced my sense of uncertainty and lack of professionalism, and it ultimately led me to end the recruitment process. I felt it was better not to invest more time in something where shifting messages and lack of transparency could continue. So I strongly recommend exercising great caution when dealing with recruiters at this company.

The place is very nice, but the real highlight is the staff—they’re just as great.
