Description
As part of our mandate for the BMW Group, we developed the BMW i brand from scratch and made it a pioneer for electric mobility in Germany.
Challenge
Does anyone buy BMW electric mobility? What is special about this completely new product? How much is it a BMW, how independent is it? What does sustainability look like? All these questions were on our minds when we were developing the brand - at a time when no competitor was even thinking about electric mobility.
Solution
Positioning of BMW i as a sub-brand of BMW, name development with name component "BMW" analogous to the established sub-brand "BMW M", brand identity as a supplement to the triad with the core brand BMW and BMW M, brand design, retail design, strategic corridor, etc.
Results
With BMW i, BMW was the pioneer of electromobility in Germany. Today, BMW i is an established sub-brand of BMW alongside BMW M and stands for the electrified and now also the particularly innovative and experimental part of the premium brand BMW.
