After I received the diagnosis that I had a meningioma in the thoracic spine and 2 in my head, I was initially shocked and looked for a doctor I could trust, which turned out to be very difficult. Through a recommendation, I found out about the Competence Center Spine & Pituitary Surgery Nuremberg GbR. Although it was over 200 kilometers away from me, I decided to make an appointment there and I was not to regret it. The entire team at this practice ensures that the patient is still really at the center of everything they do. I immediately felt very welcome and well looked after. In my case, I had an appointment with Dr. Schlaffer, who really impressed me with his extremely professional expertise and empathy. Until then, no one had ever taken so much time to discuss and explain my current condition. The surgery consultation was very detailed and I was able and even encouraged to ask questions at any time if I was still unsure about the surgery and the time afterwards. After this consultation, it was clear to me that I could trust this doctor. He will do his best to help me. What I have forgotten to mention so far: I had sent my MRI images to the practice in advance before the appointment was made - already on a Friday. On Monday I already had an appointment proposal in my email inbox, as Dr. Schlaffer had probably reviewed my MRI images at the weekend. After the surgery consultation, everything else was organized and arranged with the help of the practice team, including a prescription with medication for after the surgery. The preparation for the operation was calmly clarified and explained. I felt wonderfully looked after all round. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks and even greater praise to the entire team. After my operation, Dr. Kreutzer looked after me during my stay in hospital, as Dr. Schlaffer was on vacation at the time. Dr. Kreutzer also impressed me across the board. I had already met him at the practice, as Dr. Schlaffer had briefly called him in for our consultation. It's great that there are still doctors like him in our healthcare system. I take my hat off to so much expertise, commitment and compassion. And now the most important thing: despite the long operation, everything went very well, the care at Lauf Hospital was really very good (see my Google review) and the daily care provided by Dr. Kreutzer there was very caring. I felt that I was taken seriously at all times and was able to ask questions whenever I had something on my mind. Dr. Schlaffer also took a lot of time for the follow-up appointment. The scar is now just a small line along my spine in the area of the thoracic spine. Unfortunately, this disease will continue to haunt me for the rest of my life, as there are 2 more meningiomas in my head. However, I am convinced that I will continue to receive the best possible care. At the moment I have regular MRI checks and a trip to Nuremberg to discuss the next steps. It's reassuring to have a doctor at your side who you can rely on and who gives you confidence for your own future. Many thanks once again to Dr. Schlaffer for this surgical masterpiece - all this is not a matter of course these days.
