Projects
TYPO3 Relaunch
Case Study by jwied Digitalagentur
Description
For more than 160 years, the Association of German Engineers (VDI) has represented the interests of around 145,000 engineers and members - and provides important impetus for technical progress and innovation. jwied was responsible for the relaunch of the association's official website. The goal: a user-friendly platform that presents the VDI and its topics in a contemporary and clear way.
Solution
We know from experience that large projects are often slowed down by too much theory and endless strategic loops. That's why, instead of a classic project process, an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) was defined in workshops. The structural and visual concept, the screen and UX design, the technical concept and programming based on TYPO3, front-end development and content placement were defined as the main lines of action up to the planned go-live date.
Results
A sensible MVP approach
Not everything at once - in order to get off to a quick operational start even with very large projects, the project design can be simplified and a so-called minimal viable product can be defined. An MVP is a product that can be realized relatively quickly and easily and initially only fulfils the most necessary functions. Once on the right track, further features and functions can be added later on - saving not only a lot of time and effort, but also a lot of money. This was precisely the approach chosen for the VDI relaunch - and the desired result was quickly achieved on the basis of workshops.
Concept, usability & performance
Modern, appealing, comprehensible and user-friendly - despite a total of 4,000 guidelines and almost 600 pages of content that the VDI makes available to its visitors online, the new website meets all the requirements of a good website. Simple and clear navigation guides visitors quickly and easily through the wide range of categorized news articles, downloads, event dates and content relating to the association. A separate area for top topics offers space to present future-oriented topics on a large scale and a high-performance search function ensures even greater usability.
