Case Study by Dynamisch Inc.
Description
Waggoner Diagnostics offers FAA-approved, clinically validated color vision tests used by healthcare providers, educational institutions, and occupational fitness-for-duty programs.
The Waggoner Computerized Color Vision Test (WCCVT) is used in regulated fields such as aviation and transportation, where consistent testing procedures and reliable results are essential.
Traditional color vision tests rely on printed plates administered by hand. This creates significant risks: the plates wear out and are affected by lighting, test administration varies by examiner and location, and results are difficult to manage centrally across multiple sites.
Dynamisch partnered with Waggoner Diagnostics to develop the WCCVT as an app-based diagnostic platform.
Key features include:
- Controlled digital test presentation: Calibrated image processing displays pseudoisochromatic plates across different devices with consistent color and contrast fidelity.
- Automated stimulus duration: Standardized presentation times prevent variations in administration between examiners.
- Dynamic test sequence: The plates appear in a different order in each session, reducing memorization and bias from deliberate practice.
- Automated classification of color vision deficiencies: Response data are used to identify protan, deutan, and tritan deficiencies and calculate their severity using validated scoring algorithms.
- Secure clinical reporting: Structured diagnostic reports with centralized storage, controlled access, and audit-ready documentation.
Together, these features turn color vision testing into a consistent, scalable digital workflow. Standardized testing eliminates variations caused by manual administration, while changing the plate order reduces bias from deliberate practice across programs.
This enables institutions and occupational fitness-for-duty programs to administer color vision tests more reliably, consistently, and efficiently.
