daniels + erdwiens GbR

daniels + erdwiens (de*) is a product design and industrial design agency based in Darmstadt and Frankfurt. Since 1998, the studio has been shaping and developing consumer and investment goods—ranging from research and innovation strategy to product design, medical design, and UI/UX, all the way to series production with partners in Germany and China. Clients include Bosch, Siemens, Tchibo, Lufthansa, Victorinox, Haier, and others. Many of its products have received Red Dot, iF, and Good Design Awards.

Founded in 1998 by Micha Daniels (industrial design studies in Darmstadt, Manchester, and San José), the studio has worked together since 2011 with Alex Erdwiens—and since 2025 with Kilian Frank and Laurin Emmerich. Together, the four of them run the studio in Darmstadt’s Merckstraße. Micha Daniels is a jury member for the European Design Award; Alex Erdwiens, Kilian Frank, and Laurin Emmerich serve on the jury for the Merck Prize for Design. The team supports corporations, the mid-sized business sector, and start-ups from the first idea through to series production—using in-house rapid prototyping and manufacturing partners in Germany and China.
