Utterly useless. Last week there was this young man named Laribi—very professional, but he seemed to be thrown off by his boss, who wouldn’t stop harassing him. In any case, he told me he was going to finish the day out of principle, but it would be the last time I’d see him. Anyway, we got the picture.

I watched closely as Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla toured France. One of the hostesses, when Their Majesties passed through your workshops, ought to learn proper etiquette and refrain from bowing to the President’s wife. Only well-bred people are entitled to that kind of deference. May the Republic stay exactly where it has chosen to position itself! My family served the House of Orléans and Braganza, as stewards in the household of Queen Amélie of Portugal—and we would never have acted with such casual disrespect. So does this wretched Republic deserve a curtsy? What a lack of tact. With God’s help…
