Ekoes - Out of Business

A school that calls itself “international and on a human scale,” but which, in reality, is more like a money-making machine.

After three years at the European Business School, I’m finally spreading my wings.

During my first year, the administration was truly approachable and attentive to the students’ needs. But since the arrival of Ms. S**hie—whom many students seem to have a particularly hard time dealing with, given her attitude toward students, which I often find condescending— Ms. A**ma, whose manner of addressing students can sometimes be perceived as condescending, as well as her sister at the Career Center, I feel that the school has changed profoundly.

Unfortunately, guest speakers and some professors do not always provide the added value one might expect from a business school.

Nevertheless, I would like to sincerely thank Mr. David Ngonga, a finance professor, as well as Ms. Kabashi, in marketing, who, in my opinion, truly raise the bar for this school.

I’d also like to thank Ms. Inès K*** and Mr. J***-M*** K***, who, each in their own way, are doing their best to keep the school afloat and preserve its reputation.

A word of advice to the administration: if you wish to avoid losing more students as you did this year, it might be time to thoroughly review how the Career Center and the academic administration operate, particularly in terms of professionalism and student support.

After three years, what stands out most to me are the people I’ve met, the experiences—most of which I had to seek out on my own—and the few individuals who truly left a mark on my journey.

It is now time for me to turn the page and spread my wings.

I studied for a year when the school was still located on Rue de la Paix—back in 1982, the golden years. After that, I quickly moved on to more serious studies, because the school isn’t recognized by employers... and the EBS label just screams “rich kid” for Daddy’s boy. Still, the teachers were good. But that’s why I’m giving it three stars (which is fair for a low-ranked school): you end up with a really nice address book. It’s useless outside of France, but it works really well if you stay within the hexagon. Better than a diploma...
