East‑West‑Idea’s story as a translation agency traces back to May 1992, when I registered my individual business in Hyvinkää, Finland. Just a few years earlier, I had moved from Moscow to take a position with the Russian company ZanGas, which carried out welding and laid gas pipelines across Finland. At that point, my main motivation for starting my own enterprise was to create a real path to self‑employment and to build a life in Finland. Requests for translation and interpreting came gradually, and in 1996 I left my employer and stepped fully into running the business myself. The transition felt effortless, because the demand for language services kept rising year after year. During the 1990s, colleagues began to join me, and many of them are still part of our team today. They have become essential partners for the company and genuine friends to me. Although my place of living and the cities I call home have changed over time, the core information about the business—our name, phone number, and email address—has remained consistent. In 2011, the private business was converted and re‑registered as a joint‑stock company. By then, the agency had already reached a turnover of well over three hundred thousand euros and served roughly five hundred clients. The global downturn in 2008, followed by political and economic pressures that intensified from 2014 onward, affected most Finnish translation providers working with Russian. East‑West‑Idea meets this challenge with energy, complete commitment, and consistently high quality—so we can continue to build and protect strong relationships with our customers.
