Description

Catalyst partnered with Special Olympics Washington to support their mission of improving equitable healthcare access for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The project focused on developing an integrated marketing and communications strategy to promote a healthcare initiative in collaboration with Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. This included building a strong brand identity, developing a centralized digital platform, and launching awareness campaigns to connect patients, providers, and stakeholders.

Solution

Catalyst implemented a comprehensive three-phase strategy: Developed a cohesive brand identity for the Alliance for Inclusive Health (AIH), including logos and brand guidelines. Designed and launched a user-friendly website and provider portal, enabling individuals with IDD to easily search and connect with certified healthcare providers based on personalized needs. Executed a targeted PR and awareness campaign to engage healthcare professionals, families, and communities, including high-visibility launch events. This integrated approach successfully increased provider participation, improved accessibility, and strengthened connections between patients and healthcare services.

Results

The campaign successfully drove widespread awareness and engagement across Washington state. Within months of launch, hundreds of healthcare providers enrolled in the inclusive health training program, with participation continuing to grow steadily. The newly developed provider portal generated thousands of user interactions, enabling individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families to easily find and connect with certified healthcare professionals tailored to their specific needs. The integrated PR and awareness campaign significantly increased visibility for the initiative, attracting attention from key stakeholders, sponsors, and the broader medical community. Overall, the project not only strengthened the healthcare ecosystem for people with IDD but also empowered them with greater access, choice, and independence advancing Special Olympics Washington’s mission of inclusion and equitable care.
