Together with our partner re:think Innovations GmbH, which also took the lead in the project, we developed a compliance enforcement platform for applications in the after-sales area of a large German automobile manufacturer. The platform offers a compliance-oriented user lifecycle with hierarchical role and rights assignment, which are directly linked to the structures of the respective brands and organizations. The portal offers federated single sign-on via SAML and OIDC as well as various web services for retrieving the rights and roles of individual users via the Enterprise Group Service Bus. The portal enables 800,000 users working for different organizations of the group to securely log in and use their applications. The application is highly available in 24/7 operation and is based on a fault-tolerant infrastructure.
Alter Solutions Germany supports this project in various business and technical roles. The portal was lifted into the cloud from the beginning of 2019 with a staggered migration strategy. The migration strategy here was multi-layered - subsystems were migrated using a "replatforming" approach and other parts were built from scratch. Development Our experts form a large part of the development team and play a key role in setting up the PoC as well as in the iterative further development of the portal solution. The old monolithic on-prem system was refactored based on containerized microservices. microservices. Cloud architecture In coordination with the customer's corporate architecture, our cloud solutions architects designed and implemented a highly available, scalable and decoupled cloud-native architecture. Here, the architecture follows the hybrid cloud approach and is thus connected to the on-prem network. The implemented infrastructure has reduced the downtime and total cost of ownership of the system many times over. Together with other cloud architecture teams, our experts contribute to the further development of the cloud transformation of the entire group. Operations Our experts also map the 24×7 operation of the system to meet SLAs against all applications. In the DevOps approach, the Operations team works closely with the Development team to enable a short feedback loop in the development chain. The Operations team includes CI/CD experts, Cloud Engineers and M&L experts who take a holistic approach to the complete infrastructure. Integration Architecture IT managers of the client worldwide rely on the advice of our integration architects, who help the teams in the group to integrate with the portal and connect the applications to the group services. In doing so, our experts advise other teams from reconnaissance to SSO, to the technical implementation integration of the roles and rights system.
Roll-Out The portal is used by various user groups - from sales managers in the car dealership to automotive specialists in the workshop. The Roll-Out team coordinates the implementation of the organizational processes defined by the portal. Our Roll-Out team is the first point of contact for managers worldwide who administer 800,000 users.
